Welcome to CIS86: Web Site Design
Welcome to the class Web site for CIS86: "Web Site Design", Spring 2009, at the Mendocino (Fort Bragg) Campus of the College of the Redwoods. This site will contain or point at all information needed by the students, including the course syllabus, reference materials, and information about student projects.
Parts of this site are still under construction. For the Spring 2009 term, I decided to rewrite the Web site from scratch. I have included much of the content from the old site, but I am still integrating the old material into the new, as well as expanding the site. DFF on 01/05/09.
Here are the essential facts about the class:
- The title of the class is "CIS86: Web Site Design".
- The Class runs from January 21 through May 15, 2009.
- Class will be on Wednesday evenings, from 6:00-9:10 pm.
- The instructor is Dennis F. Freeze (also known as DFF), from Monolith Design.
- The goal of this class is to teach students what they need to know to build simple Web sites. Each student will design and build a Web site for their final project.
- This class is suitable for beginners, as well as people with an intermediate knowledge of building sites. After the more basic materials at the beginning, students will work at their own pace on their own projects, and I am available for individual consultations with students. If you learned to build sites by experimentation rather than by systematically learning HTML and CSS, this is the class for you. We will be doing modern Web design, using style sheets (CSS) for layout and appearance. No tables here (except for tabular data)!
