DFF's Classroom Policies, Priorities, and Guidelines
- My goal is for every student to learn as much about Web sites as they want. How much is up to each student,
as is how you go about the work. Adapting from other people is fine, but make sure you do the work.
- Everybody learns differently. Some people know more stuff, but so what? Don't be intimidated!
- This is not about how pretty or feature-laden the site is, although those can be fine things if you go for it. It's mainly about what each person takes away from class for themselves.
- Respect for others is foremost. If you don't pay attention, that's your choice -- but you won't take that choice away from others. I won't repeat info for people who aren't there or show up late. Turn off cell phone ringers in class -- walk outside before answering. Don't monopolize the class or my time.
- Content should not be considered offensive by contemporary standards. Respect copyrights -- where did your material originate? Do you need permission to use it? Do you have it?
- There are no (few) dumb questions, but some are inappropriate (last week's material if you missed, etc).
- I'm happy to take discussions offline; email always works for me. I will always give more info than anyone can absorb, although I'll do my best to document everything I can. I strongly prefer to use email, since that allows me to choose when to respond. (I am a night person.)
- I am terrible with names -- please don't take it personally.
